The weather defied it’s forecast and the rain stayed away, and at the British Wildlife Centre in Surrey we managed to catch some Scottish Wildcat poses.
The Scottish Wildcat is a truly wild cat, not to be petted despite appearances, and I would think would have your finger off quickly if you were to get anywhere near. They’ve never been tamed, and are indeed completely untamable even those reared in captivity. There are only about 400 left in the north of Scotland where they’re sometimes called the Tiger of the Highlands.
So I’ve put ten pictures into a gallery at Scottish Wildcats which I’ve just added to the Galleries page.

Those pictures are beautiful, as are the animals. The wildcats seem to have a certain intensity about them that domestic cats just don’t have any more. Speaking of wildcats, I was on Mull recently and a bushy-tailed cat ran in front of our car, sparking screams of “that was a wildcat!!” from the passengers. Sadly, I had to inform them that there are none on the island.
