In the rain in Rwanda

Silverback Mountain Gorilla

On one visit to Parc des Volcans in Rwanda to visit mountain gorillas, we was hoped for rain. The rain we thought, would bring in some texture and brighter colors as water can do.

It was our second trek, the one before was the previous day in Uganda, and it was not so wet then. Nearing the gorilla group after about two hours, it began to rain and found myself with the pictures I wanted.

Taken using a Nikon D300 with a 70-200 f2.8 lens. It was protected with an Op-Tec rain sleeve.

Lioness and Cub, Namibia

Just after sunrise, we were surprised by a group of lionesses and their young lying on the dusty track. They knew of our presence, and made no effort to let us by (and why should they?) So we just enjoyed their company in the golden light and took a few motherly pictures like this one.
